Visiting the B3 stock exchange today was very interesting. B3 is the second oldest stock exchange in Brazil, and is formed of various previous mergers. During our presentation, we were informed that the largest exchange sector is Financial products and all public offerings have previously taken the form of Follow-On public offerings rather than initial public offerings. How interesting!
Later in the day, we visited the Instituto Agronômico, an agricultural research centre that aims to increase efficiency, reduce risks and eliminate obstacles with growing various crops to reduce food insecurity and supply food to the growing population of Brazil. Some of the work they do includes innovating and creating products and processes and aiding policy development.
I appreciated these visits greatly considering I was quite unfamiliar with the work conducted within both of these sectors.
