A very exciting and memorable day in Sao Paulo. Today, we visited a samba club where we had a very long and knowledgeable presentation given by one of the presidents of the club. After, we got the chance to tour their storage and manufacturing facility. Also, was able to try a costume, the vibe was very interesting and I had a connection to my own culture (Bhutanese-Nepali). I felt as if I was about to get married with such a colourful and exclusively designed costume. During Nepali or Hindu weddings, we wear a lot of gold. Extremely huge amount depending on the wealth of both sides of the family and it could last for a few days to a whole month. Hindus believe that gold has the power to purify anything it touches. Although there was no real gold, the way it was designed with so many colours significantly related to many of our cultural clothing. This visit gave me a lot of ideas of what I want in the future, specifically to hire a samba costume designer for a very elegant garment. Overall it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For the day's lunch and dinner, we had a delicious buffet with the Brazilian and then completed the most important part of the visit, the presentations. The Brazilian students gave a very detailed and well-prepared presentation about Brazil and also some comparisons for us in Canada. This was a very well-managed day and makes me even more excited for what's to come for the rest of the week.
