Day 5: Business in Brazil

We started off the day visiting B3, that is B to the power of 3 standing for Brazil, Bolsa, Balcão. It is the first and only stock exchange in Brazil and is the 8th largest exchange in the world. We explored the history of B3 seeing how the market used to operate before the digitalization of the market and after.

From B3 we headed on a bus to IAC (Instituto Agronômico de Campinas), an institution dedicated to advancing science in agriculture. Their focus is on improving the agribusiness through science by experimenting with crop yields, cost effectiveness and scientific developments that can increase the value of agriculture. Once there we got to see a large area of experimental crops including coffee beans tress, we also eat some beans from the normal ones which were better than I would’ve thought. Probably a different type of seed than Queen Elizabeth ll would have tried when she visted half a century ago.

After, we visted “Parque Portugal - Lagoa Taquaral” a beautiful park in Campinas. We saw swans and a replica of the first ship that sailed to Brazil. We dined together after and went home for the night.
