Day 3 in Brasil!

I couldn’t have started the day better with my already favourite meal - fresh fruit and a chocolate cappuccino. We travelled to the Samba school this morning for a presentation and tour. The culture within Brazil and samba is something I have never experienced before back home. It’s rich, lively, inclusive and involved. As we toured through the various floors of the garage, viewing the disassembled cars, costumes and much more, I couldn’t help but think how organized the samba schools are. Bella Grill was the best spot for lunch. There were many options that we don’t have at home such as sauces, BBQ, plants and more. In the salad section we all thought there were boccachini balls but they were mini hard boiled eggs-I’ve never seen eggs that small. After filling my plate and my stomach, we finally headed to UNIFESP. The campus resebled those high schools in movies from the early 2000s. Our afternoon consisted of LOTS of learning, presentations and engagement. I enjoyed hearing the students and the Samba owner speak in Portuguese as I began to pick up on some more words. Natalia’s mom baked us some yummy and authentic brazilian treats for our coffee break-they were so amazing and unique. We ended the day with a special dinner from the UNIFESP cafeteria and headed back to the hotel. All of us met at the hotel restaurant to socialize and work on our presentations for tomorrow! There was plenty of learning and knowledge to share and experience today and I couldn’t be happier.

Fun facts: there is 1 court house for everything in São Paulo just next door from the Samba school, EPPEN new building will have a Koi pond, the owner of Havan puts replicas of the Statue of Liberty at all his stores and some costumes cost 1million reals!
