Day 3

Today was the first of our technical visits exploring Brazilian culture. We started the day by visiting a Samba school and learning all about Samba culture and Carnival in Brazil. It was absolutely incredible! We learned how Carnival is absolutely vital to Brazilian culture and the competitive nature of Sampa schools. We have nothing like this in Canada and it was so fascinating to learn about something like this which was so foreign to us. We toured the storage area which was the size of an airplane hanger and had a design area, a production area, and a storage area for the costumes from previous years.

In the afternoon we visited UNIFESP campus where several presentations about Brazilian culture, economics, schools, and healthcare were given to us by the Brazilians. Their presentation was so excellent and a pleasure to watch. We presented about Canada and I spoke about our economic structure. It was a wonderful cultural exchange and I really enjoyed learning about Brazilian culture and economics from the students.
